Barn Roofs, Quail Coveys, and General Mischief
By Laurie J. White as told to her by Alfred W. Jones (more or less)
60 pages
Recommended for 2nd-6th grade and anybody from Dalton
This book presents three short tales from a childhood lived
during the early 1900's in the small, north Georgia town of Dalton. They are
told from the perspective of my dad, Alfred Jones, as he told them to me. I had
heard these stories all my life, but shortly before he died, I actually
interviewed him to get more of the details.
Following the stories,
a section of History Tidbits offers entertaining background facts on related
topics, from shooting marbles to electric cars.
Table of Contents
You can have a look at the
student-teacher pages for the book which give a little more background and
offer students a chance for some fun and interesting supplementary research.
