When I read the description of your book I thought it looked like it might be good.  But when I got into it, I couldn't put it down.  I found it thoroughly fascinating, cover to cover.  I understood things about history that I had never known before.  And I was thrilled to find that it was written from a Christian perspective.  It was concise, informative, and written in a very understandable and enjoyable way.  My husband and older daughter are going to read it next and I am going to get some more copies to send to others whom I know will enjoy it!  I am a homeschooling mom of eight kids, three who have graduated. The ones I am schooling now are too young for this book, but I can't wait to go over this material with them as soon as they are old enough.

After reading your excellent book, King Alfred's English, I feel compelled to write to commend you on such a delightful book.  I have not read anything so interesting in a long time.  Not only is the subject matter very interesting, your writing style is readable and entertaining.  I will be telling other homeschooling Moms I know about your book.  I look forward to having our children read it during their bookwork time as well.  Thank you for the added helps available for free on your website.  I think your timeline is great and have included that in our bookwork folder, too.  May God bless your further efforts as you seek to glorify Him.

Hi there,
I've just wanted to tell you that I am really enjoying King Alfred's English.  I read it over a previous week, and have now been reading it again with my 16 yr old (11th grade) son - with my 19 yr. old daughter listening in today.  (He could read it on his own, obviously, but I enjoyed it so much and wanted to do it together.)   We've also really enjoyed some of your extra links!

I found your book fascinating for both the language matters you covered but also as to history and church history in Europe...The material may be just as important for a history overview of western Europe as it is for language development.  Very well done indeed!

I cannot begin to tell you how much I am enjoying this book.  I wish I had a teacher like you when I was in school because you would have inspired me to study more.  It is written in such a way that I can understand it.  I love it!"

[My husband] Murray has been reading King Alfred and can't put it down! He said it was definitely for those beyond grades 7-12 and is recommending it to many of his friends!
